Literature Text

"Beautiful Marionette girl,
why is it that you cry?
You've got your life planned out for you,
and you'll never even die.
"

But, when my body's broken,
when my cloth begins to tear,
you poke holes in me with needles,
and assume that I don't care.

"Beautiful Marionette girl,
why do you always pout?
You never need to say a word,
or feel the need to shout.
"

I can't control my fingertips,
and you've broken off my wings.
My arms and legs are jerked about,
when you yank upon my strings.

I can never feel your love for me,
or the wind upon my cheek.
I wish to feel some feelings,
this is all I care to seek.

I want to sing a song with you,
I wish I could grow old.
I want to feel the pleasure,
of which I've just been told.

So, my Puppet Master,
This is why I act this way.
I'm lonely and I'm worthless,
but you can't hear what I say.
I'd prefer you read the poem before reading the following so you get your own idea in your head first - Okay, so. I kind of want to explain this a little.. Some people might get it, some might not. It's supposed to be a man talking to his marionette, and she's talking back.. but as it says at the end, he can't hear her.

I'm not sure if that's clear or not, and I'd definitely love some feedback on whether it's apparent or not.. I'll probably go back and try to fix it a bit more sometime, but I'm stumped as of now.

I love this, and yes it is apparent but personally I get the feeling any puppet master wouldn't care to lend an ear anyway. But maybe I am over thinking about the puppet master's role. I was thinking of peer pressure and the puppet master being a bully of sorts so...there's that too. But even if that's not the case this is still pretty fantastic all on it's own!
